What's the best way to find a sponsorship and get the tier 2 visa in the UK?

One of the common routes into working in the UK is the tier 2 general migrant visa. The visa allows you to work for a sponsor licence holding company for the life of the visa. It is beneficial to apply via this route as it can give up to 5 years and 14 days. It also offers the possibility of switching routes further down the line, eventually making you eligible for indefinite leave to remain.

It is one of the UK's most applied for visas and being prepared is the biggest key to success in application. Doing your research will pay huge dividends going forward as will enlisting the assistance of specialists such as our company.

This article aims to investigate the best way of finding sponsorship and offers some hints and tips for the process:

Step 1. First things first, you will need to identify the types of job that interest you. By narrowing down, you can help to really get specific and that will help when it comes to step 2. Look at your qualifications and experience to see where you may fit in.

Step 2. Ensure the roles meet the specification for NQF level 6 on the codes of practice. It is vital that this is met as the government has set a stringent framework for roles to adhere to. This is to ensure that it is quality jobs that are being applied for and not just a way for employers to source cheap labour outside of the local market.

Step 3. Narrow down potential businesses and check if they are on the Home Office Register of Sponsors. If not then it may be worth getting in touch anyway and seeing if they would be willing to become sponsors. Some businesses may already be considering the move and having a great applicant could make the decision for them.

Step 4. Apply for relevant roles with either sponsor holders or companies willing to help and are willing to apply to be sponsor licence holders. If you do find a company then we can help with their sponsorship licence application.

As you can see the process for application is reasonably straightforward. There is just a small amount of research required; using the Register of Sponsors, you can target businesses that are already open to sponsoring people and can potentially offer you a role. There are plenty of businesses that offer roles to those looking to get sponsored and there are some great resources to start digging through to find the ideal role for you.

"Anna Foley was the lawyer helping my partner obtain an EEA EFM visa. She was outstanding. Handling the case with constant correspondence over a lengthy, lockdown delayed 7-month application process. Her expert advice guided us successfully through some difficult times as a result of COVID-19. Some of the best service I have received for any service ever! Often replying to emails late at night, offering to send additional correspondence to the home office and going above and beyond in handling our case! Well done and thank you Reiss Edwards and thank you Anna!!".
