Top Tips on How to Find A US Work Visa Sponsor Employer

If your ultimate aim is to move to the US to work, then you will probably need a sponsor to help apply for one of the US work visas such as the H-1B and H-2B. As not all employers are willing or able to sponsor employees to work in the US, it is important to narrow your search to the right businesses. In this article, we will look at some top tips for those who are searching for a US sponsor for a job. We intend our guide to help you cut down the time it takes to locate a sponsor and speed up your move to the US.

Find A H-1B Sponsor by Searching, Searching and Searching Some More

One major advantage that job seekers have today is the ability to comb through masses of information quickly. Search engines like Google can be very useful in cutting down the time needed to find a relevant role. Searching thoroughly will help you find a role with a company willing to sponsor foreign workers.

While you could head off searching around without results, below are a few great options for those who are beginning their search. We hope that at least one of these nuggets of information puts you on the right path to finding your dream employer in the US.

While you could head off searching around without results, below are a few great options for those who are beginning their search. We hope that at least one of these nuggets of information puts you on the right path to finding your dream employer in the US.

Web Search For H-1B Sponsors

One way to start your journey is to tailor a Google search to exactly what it is you are looking for. If you are exceptionally qualified in one field, it may be best to search for visa jobs in those industries. For instance, if you are an engineer looking for a job in Chicago, you might use the following: engineer visa jobs Chicago. While this may seem like something of a blunt instrument (and it may well be), the information is likely to push you in the right direction, and at least offer some starting points.

As Google and other search engines provide better results to specific queries, it is important that you nail down some options early. Finding a specific location will be very important - the US is an enormous country; some states are bigger and more populated than a lot of countries. So, figure out first where you want to live. The US has such diverse states that there is likely to be one that stands out for you.

As well as being specific about location, you may also want to be specific about a job role or industry. The huge number of jobs and industries in the US is mindboggling, there’s almost certainly a perfect job for you in the location of interest.

Specificity is the key to help speed up your search; A vague search result will only deliver vague results - get specific!

Search The H-1B Sponsor Database

Another weapon in your arsenal will be to search a database of sponsors. These are companies that have experience with taking on foreign workers and are open-minded about doing so. Fortunately, to help with your search, there are many websites that can offer this information. Many of these websites also show current job openings and allow you to be very specific. It is worth consulting a few of these sites as they all may have slightly different information. By checking a few, you get an accurate picture of employers who sponsor migrants in a specific location.

Find an Internship

If you are fresh out of education, you may think about taking an internship. An internship can be a superb way to learn job skills and get yourself in the door of some of the US’s biggest companies. Many large companies offer internships, and they are a brilliant way to move to the US to kick-off your career.

As well as gaining lots of experience, the J1 visa can also help in gaining permanent residence in the US. Though the J1 visa is not a “dual intent” visa - meaning that you must not be intending to move to the US to stay permanently, there are circumstances in which you will be able to stay. If you need more information on moving from a J1 visa to a Green Card, get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.

What to Do When You Have Found Your Dream Job with A H-1B Sponsor

Once you have found your dream job in the US, you will need to begin the process of obtaining a work visa. Depending on the route that you choose, you will need to meet certain eligibility criteria. As well as the eligibility criteria, your specific visa route may be subject to an annual cap - such as the H-1B visa. In this circumstance, you may need to consult with your intended employer and a specialist immigration law firm such as ourselves to give yourself the best chance of success.

If your visa is subject to an annual cap, you may be entered into the lottery system. This system uses a computer system to randomly choose those whose applications can be considered. If your application is chosen, you will then proceed to make an application. If this is approved, you will be able to claim your work visa to move to the US. If you aren’t successful, then you may need to choose an alternative visa route, employer or wait until the following year to try again.

With the US being such an economic powerhouse, it is understandable that there are only so many visas to go around. If you need help to maximise your chances of getting one, call us today and we can help you to decide on what your next move should be.

"Anna Foley was the lawyer helping my partner obtain an EEA EFM visa. She was outstanding. Handling the case with constant correspondence over a lengthy, lockdown delayed 7-month application process. Her expert advice guided us successfully through some difficult times as a result of COVID-19. Some of the best service I have received for any service ever! Often replying to emails late at night, offering to send additional correspondence to the home office and going above and beyond in handling our case! Well done and thank you Reiss Edwards and thank you Anna!!".
